Right now in the workshop process of Owa’s play The Dutch Play. It is a fantastic part for me and it also scares the hell out of me. Which means its the right project for me. I start every process from a place of shear terror but this one really feels like an endurance race.
The play begins the day before New Amsterdam becomes New York. A runaway slave is being sought by bounty hunters sent from his master in Virginia. The very next day when it becomes New York the rules will change and this slave’s new found freedom will no longer exist. What to do? Well that is the play and you will have to come and check it out. I will post information here about the workshop performance in October.
The project is directed by my longtime mentor George Ferencz. It features the talents of Jennie Vath, Pete McCabe, Christopher Zorker.
